my b-day

Last night, James took us out to Bahia Cabana for my birthday dinner. It's the restaurant down the street from us and within walking distance. They usually have live music in the evenings, so it was fun to eat and hear the live guitar and acoustic bass! The kids enjoyed dancing when they were finished with their meal. Bahia Cabana has awesome food! I almost always get their club and it is so good!
James got their Ruben. They're kind of known for their ruben's and they are pretty outstanding!
Naomi chose a hamburger. She can eat a whole burger!

The twins got fish fingers-their choice. I think they're really good as well. It's pollack and flaky and tender and just yummy!

Naomi enjoyed the lemon from James' plate.

After supper we came home and ate my cake.

It was good!

Then we took family pictures. All the kids were in a silly mood so it made picture taking fun!

my birthday cake

I wasn't going to make a birthday cake for myself today, but James told the kids that today was my birthday. (28 people!) So, Henry immediately came running to me and said, "It's mama's happy birthday today! We can have a happy birthday cake?" What was I going to do? So, I made one. Wanted it to be a layer cake just cause and it turned out crooked and the top piece broke in half when I turned it from the pan. All well, it will definitely taste just as good as it would've had it turned out "perfectly"! Happy Birthday to me.
This strawberry cake is not healthy or wholesome!
It's from a box full of natural and artificial flavorings along with the frosting.

black and white shadows

On our way to the beach yesterday I decided to take random shots of daily sights for us in black and white. The building next door to us.

The next picture for at&t's commercial. "More Bars in More Places".

Waiting at the light to cross the street to the beach.

The playground.

How the sky looked as we were leaving.

it's been a while

Since I haven't blogged in a few days thought I'd catch you all up on our tremendously riveting lives over the past couple weeks.

First off, I made some killer chicken fried rice! Everyone enjoyed. James worked on my laptop cause it's acting all funny. And not the ha-ha funny either! It's telling me that my password is expired but will not let me change it. So, it's going to need some extra techy TLC or a good kick in the, ummm, hard drive! I'm fuuuureeaking out cause all my most recent pics are on there and I hadn't yet copied them to a disc!

The girls and boy thought it would be great fun to use my folded sheets and towels as blankets for their animals.

Henry found James' old hard hat and thought maybe he'd "saw" something. I don't think taking his hand off is a good idea!

Got bored and tried to take some self-portraits just because....

I am thinking whoever invented tape and super glue must have been a mom since they are lifesavers for me. I am Super Toy-Fixer!

On Saturday, got a package in the mail from my parents with all kinds of goodies in it! There was also a birthday card with money in it for me! So, I took the day away from home and got pictures printed of the kids and frames for them with the money. I got the frames at Ross and the pics done at Walgreen's.

Also was able to get this awesome picture at Homegoods for the wall above our couch with the b-day money.

And some pool/beach towels for the kids at Marshall's. Thanks Mom and Dad!

kid-ism (i've lost count)

As Marcail was eating breakfast, she asked me this question: "Why that man with the yellow hat have a monkey?"
"Cause he's a crazy man," I replied.
"Yeah," Marc said, "He needs a kid! He[George] can't live in a house. He's always naughty!" I agree. He's always getting himself and the Man in a Yellow Hat in trouble!

curious george

Whenever the kids watch Curious George on PBS it reminds me of my nephew Sean and makes me miss that little silly boy like crazy! Sean has a stuffed George he just loves and it is funny the likeness to George Sean has. He looks so much like George. He's curious like him too and is a little monkey as well.

My little nephew, Sean!

i'm not that mean!

Last weekend I made granola using Laurel's sister-in-law's recipe (Thanks, Laurel!). It turned out perfectly! I didn't follow it to the letter because I felt like spoiling my kids just a little. So, I added cocoa, peanuts, raisins and chocolate chips to it! The raisins and chocolate chips I added after it was done. It was still a little warm so the chocolate chips all melted into it, which was fine. It tastes soooo good! We have cereal every morning for breakfast so the 1/2 batch that I made is going to be gone tomorrow morning. Think I'll make more traditional granola next....

beach readiness and play

Our new Toy Story beach bag, all packed and ready to go! Toy Story is the kid's newest favorite thing!
Marcail's goggles in place and her suit is on!
Enjoying the ocean before the cooler weather sets in.
Naomi's boogie board.

Henry's wish has come true!! Henry has a boogie board! Henry calls it a skateboard even after multiple corrections on my part. Our dear friend and landlord, Mr. Pro, gave each of the kids a boogie board to borrow yesterday. Henry was just itching to get to the beach this morning to try it out like he's seen bigger boys do.
