indian inspired baked tilapia

I have been experimenting with Indian spices and flavors. I've been inspired from smelling the delicious aromas wafting from our landlord and his wife's kitchen. They are Indian and so I have gotten some ideas and been given a list of what the basic spices are in Indian cooking. So, with my cupboard full of new Indian-esque spices, I went to town making Indian flavored baked fish.

To start I whisked together a couple eggs with milk along with some minced onion, a clove of minced garlic, some turmeric and curry and minced coriander. Then, I soaked six tilapia filets in the sauce and placed them into an oiled 9x13" pan. After that, I crumbled up some bread and soaked it in the lefover sauce and poured it onto the fish in the pan. I topped the fish and bread crumbs with bay leaves and six whole cloves. Covered it with foil and baked for 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
It came out smelling delicious and looking quite yummy!
The test was if the kiddos liked all these new flavors. Curry is a definite, strong flavor and something they've never really tasted.

Marcail liked it, a lot! She asked for seconds!
Henry liked it too!
Naomi liked it as well, but she was not in the mood to cooperate for the camera.

Mmmmmm! I can still smell it in our little apartment.

I most always get hungry when I read your posts, Tab!
So glad the kids liked it. You know me! I've only made Tuna Curry and that sounds pretty good too!
You are an artist!

Okay, my mouth is watering now! I already know that something like that would not fly in my house (unless it was flying out the window). Maybe I should come live with you!

Thanks, Leeser. I am coming to appreciate the taste of curry. The Indian/Arabic flavors in cooking are so unique and, well, cool.

That fish dish looks SO good! Jeremy and I love Indian food, and we have made a point to have it at least once a month. I have yet to try and make it though! That's awesome that the kiddos liked it! But they are into spicy food, right? The last few months Hayley has asked to tasted our Indian fare, but she's only asked for a second bite once.
