We Made the Twins' Birthday Cake Today

Henry and Marcail turn 3 tomorrow!
The kids loved helping with the process! I've never let them help me in the kitchen before and it was quite the experience for them.

Here are all the ingredients we needed in our mixing bowl for the boxed cake mix. Henry is waiting so patiently to begin.
Everyone watches as mama reads the directions before delving into the making of the cake.

We let Henry pour the dry ingredients into the bowl first.

Again, waiting patiently for the next instructions.

Marcail poured part of the water into the bowl

Then Henry poured the rest.

Can you believe it? I let Naomi pour in the oil!

I added a little extra oil to compensate for the oil that didn't quite make it into the bowl.

Mama cracked the eggs, I don't think I need to explain why I did and not the children!

Here is the batter before we mixed it.

The BLENDER!!! As soon as I got the blender out Henry ran for his room crying. He was afraid of it. He did not want to come out. He cried, "I don like it. It care me!

James talked him out of his room but obviously he was still very reluctant to be near the blender. I wonder if there is a scientific word for blender phobia?

Naomi had no such qualms about mixing the batter!

Henry was willing to try it out after Naomi so bravely showed him that there really is nothing to fear.

Marcail like mixing as well. My little "domestic Dora's"!

We finished mixing, Naomi is so proud.

So is Marcy!

Pouring the batter into the cake pan.

Marcail is spreading out the cake batter, pleased as punch.
Getting ready to bake the cake.

Naomi and Marcail are pleased with the outcome of the birthday cake!

Not really pretty but I'm sure it will be yummy!
