a new endeavor

I made a sourdough starter this afternoon. It's an eight day process but seems like it's going to be a stinkin easy one with some tasty bread at the end! Since this is Day 1 the recipe I'm following starts with 2 cups of whole-wheat flour and two cups of water. Stir it together, cover the mixture with cheesecloth and let sit for 24 hours. After only 3 hours of "fermenting" there was already a nice layer of.....whey? or whatever it is that separated to the top.
I'm so excited to see how the rest of the process goes. I'll keep you updated.

It's going to be so good! The starter may just outgrow the jar though, so keep an eye out! (This Mom can't quit givng advice!) I hope at least a small portion is worthwhile advice!
