Since we moved to a bigger place, I decided to host Thanksgiving here this year.  A first for me.  I've never, ever had my in-laws over for a meal, let alone a Holiday meal!  My extended family are being gracious and allowing me the chance to prove that I can cook.  I have done the majority of prepping and cooking today so all I have for tomorrow is house cleaning and light prep work to finish the meal.
Oh!  And now Naomi is running a high fever, so I'm also busy trying to keep her comfortable while I prepare our feast.  Poor girl.
I was so busy this morning cooking and boiling and cutting and measuring and frying (and being a nurse) that I didn't snap any photos of the children helping me put our sweet potatoes into the casserole dish.
Anyway, our menu will be as follows:
Relish Plate
Ham
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
Candied Sweet Potatoes
Corn
Green Beans
Stuffing
Cranberries
Jell-O
Orange Slices
Applesauce
Rolls
Pumpkin Pie
Pecan Pie

My mother-in-law and Aunt "in-law" will be bring the pies and relish plate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

poor bubba

Our Henry is ill. He came down with a high fever on Saturday night.
He's been achey, tired, hot, chilled and so sweet.
I think he has the flu and I know he's miserable.
I am so proud of how well he takes his sickies.
He just lies down on the couch and eats his ice.
He drinks his juice or water.
He doesn't complain or whine.
He just rests and he's such a trooper.
He also gets to watch lots of television
which helps in the process of getting better!
I sure hope he feels better tomorrow.

spendin the day at home

We have been go, go, go a lot lately! The kids have had colds for the last 2 weeks. So, I decided we needed to stay home for a few days so they can recuperate. We are leaving for Kansas to celebrate Easter with my family in 5 days so I really want them almost 100% before we leave. So, today we spent a lot of time resting and watching television. We rolled a soccer ball between the four of us and played with Legos and Trio blocks. The kids were able to play pretending games like picnic with their food toys and dress up and they did so well even though I know they don't feel that great.
Anyway, at one point this morning Henry asked me to take a picture of he and his twin while they were sitting here: Then, I shot these:

And these,

And, of course, these:

Aren't they something else?

it's happened!

This morning, right after breakfast, I heard Henry dump out his legos. This is what he came out with--a gun! He is officially a boy who makes guns out of legos. And I think it's cute!
Marc was not to be left out of the photo taking this morning after I took a picture of Henry and his lego gun. She was in her pjs and had her dress up shoes and purse on to play mommy. She has a fever of 101 (since Tuesday) but no other symptoms. It hasn't stopped her from playing and singing like normal!
I think it's cause I'm giving her extra Berry Well. I'm also giving her the Umcka ColdCare. These are my all-time favorite natural remedies to fight the sickys away! I think they really work.
